Hey ladies! I have been trying to get to posting today all day long, and here it is almost 9pm and I'm finally able to sit down and write!
I got a few of the Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow trios to review. I wore each of these as part of my makeup look so I could give you a good review...most of these trios were pretty good quality, but there are a few misses for me. I liked the idea of all of them though! I used ELF eyelid primer beneath all of them and these shadows hardly creased on me.
Here are the colors I am showing you. They all have engraved hints within the shadow for where to put them:
And then the back of each palette gives tips as well. I like this idea for makeup beginners a lot. I know for me, using these palettes helped broaden my creativity for what I do with my eye makeup color wise.
First up is I'm Getting Sunburned. The gold is super pigmented and a very gorgeous shade. Definitely a winner for me! I also loved the pink brow bone color. It's not too harsh and blends well with the other two colors in the trio. The brown crease color I was really excited to try because it's gorgeous in the pan, but I think it muddies up a bit when blended and the pink shimmer gets lost. On me it looked practically black. I was hoping for a rich chocolate brown. That said, this is a good trio to use for a daytime smoky look. I included what this one looks like more blended in the swatches below.
Next is I Dream of Greenie. I really liked everything about this one. Maybe because I have a soft spot for green shadows, but these are all very pigmented, easy to blend, and I love love love the shades of green. It does come out pretty bright as an overall look, but when used in moderation this combo is perfection for me.
This one is called Spoiled Brat. Love that name! haha This one is a top pick for me also. The pink is bright and fun-very well pigmented. I liked the black also, no issues there. The silver is pigmented really well, but I think it's a little dark for a brow bone color. I felt i bit silly wearing this all day because I think it suits a night out better, but with a few modifications I would definitely wear this again!
Finally, here is Retro. I wanted to like this one, but it just didn't come together for me. I loved how these shadows looked swatched on my had, but it didn't translate that way to the eye. They almost have a pearly sheen to them that didn't translate to the eye very well. I wasn't a fan of the colors together either. I wore this shadow trio all day, and by the end it was basically gone, even with a primer. So overall, this one was a dud for me. However if you want to wear color without being too bold, this could be a good option if the wear time doesn't bother you.
These trios retail for $2.99 and you can find these at many drugstores, Walmart, and Fred Meyer.
So what do you think of these? Thanks for reading!
